Karen Bright
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Hlgu amma ha, from Laxgults'ap and house Wilps Bayt Neekhl, was raised in Prince Rupert, B.C. I started my professional journey at 15 with an interview that highlighted my "beautiful smile and happy energy"—a spirit that has defined my career ever since. After moving to Terrace in 2010, I spent eight years in furniture sales, excelling in sales challenges and earning national top sales recognition for three years straight.
My ultimate goal, however, was to work for Gitlax̱dax and reconnect with my heritage by learning more about her Nisga'a culture. Persistence paid off in 2022 when I joined the team as a multi-talented Receptionist, Janitorial, and Program Assistant. By making herself available to learn every facet of the organization, I quickly advanced, becoming the Grant Administrator December 2024 and being promoted to Executive Assistant just three months later.
My drive extends to our home life, where Jonathan & I lead a busy and loving household of seven. Our family includes: My niece, Pamela, an adult with a disability who has been in our home for four+ years; our son Jaxon, a 2025 graduate who was part of the GNTS student program; our granddaughter Ranee, a teen actively involved in the G.N.T.S. youth A.D.D. group; our son Sherwin, 10, a lover of competitive sports and singing; and our youngest son, Clark, a deeply loving child with a big personality.
I am extremely proud to be sober since September 28, 2021.
I invite you for a cup of tea/coffee as a get to know me conversation anytime :)

She began working with organizations within the Nass Valley. Rose moved to Terrace 2010 and began working for Nisga’a Lisims Government at the Terrace office in 2013 as an outreach worker, finance assistant, events and activity coordinator. She moved back to Nisga’a Lisims Government as their registry clerk in 2022.
Missing the Gitlaxdax Community she found a position within CMSD #82 working as an Indigenous support worker for Caledonia, that was a rewarding and challenging position to have and she has so much more appreciation for the teaching staff and administration at all schools.
